How to skip Files or Directories when creating a .tar.gz file of the Bash command line for Linux

Exclude directories with –exclude for tar

tar czvf xxx.tar.gz –exclude=dir1 –exclude=file1 ……


Example:
tar czvf a5go.com.tar.gz /home/a5go.com --exclude=/home/a5go.com/test --exclude=/home/a5go.com/test.php
